Nothing can keep this 16-year-old down, who is able to boast many achievements despite having hearing deficiency in one ear since she was ten years old. Wong Shok Chang’s accomplishments include winning – as the representative of her area/zone – the Interschool Rocket Competition 2008 and 2nd & 3rd place in her school’s Chinese Calligraphy competition. In addition to that, Wong was the Chinese public speaking school representative in 2006 and 2007 and the secretary of the Sin Chew Daily Camp. She was also awarded the JPS Sijil Emas. Wong’s favourite subject is mathematics, but she also likes biochemistry. She is interested in learning how the human body works and aspires to be a doctor. In the event that she is unable to realise her ambition, Wong aims to further her studies in mass communication. The youngest of three children and the only daughter, Wong enjoys taking photos of everything and is looking to improve her English. She has participated in the Star NiE essay competition and the Australian Mathematics Competition. Wong’s secret to success is hard work and she believes Brands has helped her stay alert and focused during exams.
